Hopscaper Support
Hopscaper is an endless sky-hopping game for iPhone and iPad, drawn in a pastel-crayon style. It is made by one person, Hamdi Jomaa, and every message gets read.
Get help
Write to hamdijomaa.x@gmail.com. Please tell us your device, its iOS or iPadOS version, the game version (shown at the bottom of the game's Settings) and what happened. A screenshot helps. We answer in English or French, usually within two working days.
Playing
How do I play?
Your hopper bounces on its own. Hold the left or right side of the screen to steer, or tilt your device. Leave the screen on one side and you come back on the other. Land on platforms, stomp monsters from above, and climb as high as you can.
Can I turn tilt off, or make it less sensitive?
Yes. Open Settings (the gear on the main screen) and switch off Tilt to steer, or move the sensitivity slider. Music, sound effects, vibration and screen shake have their own switches there too.
Do game controllers and keyboards work?
Yes, in the game and in every menu. Controller: left stick or d-pad to move, A to play or confirm, B to go back, Menu to pause. Keyboard: arrow keys or A and D to move, Space or Return to confirm, Esc to pause. If a controller disconnects during a run, the game pauses.
What are zones?
The sky changes as you climb: Sunny Meadows, Maple Woods, Cotton Clouds, Sunset Mesa, Aurora Glacier, Starlit Night, Outer Space and Candy Nebula, a new one every 2,800 points. After the last one the sky starts over, a little harder each time, so there is always higher to go. Each zone you reach adds a postcard to your Sky Album.
How do I unlock new hoppers and trails?
Collect gems during your runs and spend them in the Wardrobe. Some hoppers also ask for a level, a zone or a special feat; the Wardrobe shows what each one needs. Missions and level-ups give extra gems.
Progress and Game Center
Will my progress move to my new iPhone or iPad?
Yes, when both devices use the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on. Your best score, level, gems, hoppers and records sync through your own iCloud. Open the game once with an internet connection on each device; progress from both devices is merged, so nothing is lost.
How do I use leaderboards and achievements?
Sign in to Game Center in the Settings app (Settings › Game Center). Then use the Ranks and Challenge buttons after a run, or the Game Center buttons in the Sky Album. Hopscaper has three leaderboards (High Score, Weekly Climb and Gems in One Run) and 22 achievements. You can play without Game Center; your scores just won't appear on the leaderboards.
My score didn't appear on the leaderboard.
Check that you are signed in to Game Center and online when the run ends. Your best score is sent again each time you open the game signed in, so it always ends up on the High Score leaderboard. The weekly leaderboard starts over every week.
Can I play offline?
Yes, the whole game works offline. iCloud sync and Game Center catch up the next time you are online.
Purchase
Are there ads or in-app purchases?
No. You buy Hopscaper once and get the whole game: no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription and no account.
I got a new device. Do I have to pay again?
No. Download Hopscaper again from the App Store with the same Apple Account (App Store › your account › Purchased).
How do I get a refund?
Apple sells the game and handles payments. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Accessibility
With Reduce Motion turned on (Settings › Accessibility › Motion), Hopscaper turns off screen shake and the wobble of its hand-drawn lines. Menus have VoiceOver labels. If something gets in your way, please write to us.
